Transportation Planner

Arcadis is seeking an experienced and motivated Transportation Engineer or Transportation Planner to join our growing Mobility Advisory team in Western Canada.

The ideal candidate will possess experience in transportation planning, preliminary design, and sustainability programs, ideally with Complete Streets, bike share and e‑scooter programs experience. Your background includes expertise in multimodal transportation planning, engineering, and project management. You will have experience with the conceptual and functional design of multimodal transportation assets, new/smart mobility, transportation planning and analysis, policy review and data analysis. You will be familiar with key planning and design frameworks and be skilled in leading public and interested party consultations.

Your portfolio will include supporting the design and development of comprehensive transportation projects and programs that encompass active transportation and new mobility solutions to support multi‑modal initiatives across the Mobility Advisory team.

You will be responsible for undertaking research and analysis to evaluate transportation data and trends, identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation in projects and programs. Using data‑driven approaches, you will support decision‑making processes.

You will also be responsible for the conceptual and functional design of Complete Street projects and active transportation assets, contributing to transportation master plans, major projects and the multimodal scopes of mobility plans.

Role Accountabilities

• Support the execution of complex transportation planning and engineering projects, ensuring that deliverables are completed on time and to client satisfaction.
• Conduct thorough network analysis, utilizing advanced data analytics to inform effective decision‑making and ensure policy alignment with current standards.
• Guide the creation of comprehensive plans and policies, promoting sustainable and innovative transportation solutions that address current and future mobility needs.
• Collaborate with multi‑disciplinary teams across Mobility Advisory and other global business groups, providing technical insights and expert advice to enhance project outcomes.
• Contribute detailed analyses and expert perspectives to proposal development, creating compelling and comprehensive documentation for prospective projects.
• Implement rigorous quality assurance processes and ensure all projects meet industry standards and client expectations.
• Stay up to date with emerging trends and technologies, integrating fresh strategies to enhance efficiency and sustainability.
• Build and maintain strong business relationships with public and private sector clients, engaging at senior management levels to align services with broader organizational goals.
• Identify growth opportunities, prepare persuasive proposals, and present to prospective clients to support business development efforts.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Planning, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Registered Professional Planner (RPP) or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or equivalent.
• 4+ years of relevant experience in planning or engineering, including a track record of supporting the development and implementation of sustainable transportation solutions.
• Ability to assist projects of various sizes and collaborate effectively within diverse multidisciplinary teams.
• Strategic problem‑solving skills and advanced technical knowledge in transportation planning and engineering.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop and deliver professional presentations.
• Excellent time‑management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines concurrently.

Salary Range: $78,000 - $117,000 (base salary). Actual salaries will vary based on location, skills, experience, and qualifications.
