This is an exciting opportunity at the Strathcona Community Hospital. The facility offers a 24 / 7 Emergency.Department variety of Ambulatory outpatient services, Laboratory, and Diagnostic Imaging services. This position is the “front line” representation in delivering care within the Emergency Department. Based on a primary health care model, the incumbent functions within a multidisciplinary team, and is responsible for the assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of patient care. The incumbent performs a variety of nursing related duties in accordance with clinical policies and standards. The incumbent must have strong judgment and decision-making skills, as well as the ability to participate in inter-professional collaboration. Shift Pattern Extended Hours Days, Nights, and Weekends.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Required Qualifications :
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Preference will be given to those applicants that have successfully completed a post-basic study program as required within the scope of the assigned position ( medication administration, IV start, etc.).
