Job description

HireArt is helping our client find a Manufacturing Engineer to build a prototype sensor and compute hardware in alignment with industry standards, best practices, and product requirements. This role is ideal for a motivated and curious engineer who will own and scale manufacturing lines for both new product introductions and sustaining production.

In this role, you'll build and support manufacturing processes from early pilot phases through full production. You will apply your background in manufacturing and electromechanical systems to develop reliable, efficient, and scalable assembly and test solutions for advanced hardware products.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in fast-moving development environments. You take ownership of manufacturing challenges, collaborate closely with product development teams, and continuously seek opportunities to improve quality, cost, and efficiency.

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will:
  • Support new hardware introductions by developing production assembly, test, and inspection procedures, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Own products through pilot production and launch, driving schedules, resolving manufacturability issues, and improving quality, cost, and efficiency.
  • Drive design for manufacturing improvements in partnership with product development teams to enhance manufacturability and control cost.
  • Define efficient manufacturing assembly flows, including bills of materials, workflows, and detailed work instructions.
  • Establish best practices and standards for manufacturing bills of materials and bills of process.
  • Design and implement production equipment, fixtures, and test systems for internal manufacturing lines or supplier use.
  • Train and support engineering technicians on manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Perform root cause and failure analysis on production issues, discrepant components, and field returns.
  • Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on material cost reduction, capacity growth, and supply chain efficiency.
  • Support, maintain, and continuously improve manufacturing lines to meet sustaining production needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • 2+ years of professional experience as a manufacturing engineer supporting electromechanical products or sensor-based hardware
  • Strong hands-on manufacturing aptitude with experience assembling sensor pods, control units, PCBA-level assemblies, or similar electromechanical hardware (assembly-focused, not PCBA fabrication)
  • Experience in the design and implementation of manufacturing fixtures, assembly tooling, and electronic-mechanical test systems
  • Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD tools and interpreting engineering drawings for manufacturing and serviceability
  • Experience developing and maintaining BoMs, configuration structures, and change management processes
  • Experience defining manufacturing processes, sequences of operations, and human factors considerations
  • Experience with process verification, validation, testing, and design control processes
  • Strong DFM and DFS background with several years applying both in production or NPI environments
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Enthusiasm for hands-on work with assemblies, robotics, automation systems, and production equipment

Bonus Qualifications:
  • Experience using Dassault 3DX tools such as Catia or DELMIA
  • Experience with ERP/MES systems such as SAP S/4 HANA or SAP ME
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles, including RCA, 5 Whys, VSM, mistake-proofing, 5S, and GMP
  • Experience justifying and implementing automation solutions for manufacturing and service operations

Benefits:
  • Pre-tax commuter benefits
  • Employer (HireArt) subsidized healthcare benefits (Eligibility begins on the first of the month following 60 days of service)
  • Flexible Spending Account for healthcare-related costs
  • HireArt covers all costs for short- and long-term disability and life insurance
  • 401k package

Commitment: This is a full-time, ongoing contract position staffed via HireArt. It will onsite and available to candidates who are local to the Foster City, CA area.

HireArt values diversity and is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We are interested in every qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. Unfortunately, we are not able to sponsor visas or employ corp-to-corp.
