As the Director of Compute Platform, you’ll lead teams responsible for Yelp’s compute platform, driving initiatives in compute infrastructure and cloud economics. This director-level role shapes our technical strategy, empowers team members, and partners with stakeholders across engineering and business disciplines. Your work will directly impact the efficiency, reliability, and scale of Yelp’s systems, with broad influence across the company.

What you'll do :

• Lead and mentor geographically distributed teams in the United States, Canada, and Europe responsible for designing, building, and operating Yelp’s integrated compute platform.
• Drive platform strategy and vision—prioritizing user and developer needs to ensure a reliable, resilient, and high-performing environment.
• Oversee the development and evolution of Yelp’s PaaSTA (Kubernetes-based) platform and related tooling to deliver a cohesive experience across the software development lifecycle.
• Foster seamless collaboration among individual teams, ensuring features, workflows, and integrations come together into one unified platform.
• Enable developer productivity by making complex infrastructure and operational concerns simple, safe, and intuitive.
• Champion best practices in observability, incident response, and SRE, supporting rapid iteration and robust safety mechanisms for production changes.
• Build and sustain a diverse, inclusive, and learning-focused team culture that reflects and enables every engineer to contribute and grow.

What it takes to succeed :

Excellent communication and people leadership skills, with a focus on mentorship and developing inclusive, high-performing teams.

Deep experience with building and scaling cloud infrastructure and compute platforms in large or complex organizations.

Proven ability to lead globally distributed engineering teams, especially in areas like platform infrastructure, cost optimization, reliability, or observability.

Track record of delivering a unified and consistent developer experience—integrating tools and technologies across many teams and domains.

Demonstrated collaboration skills with both technical- and business partners, aligning platform work to user needs and company objectives.

Solid grasp of incident response, SRE principles, and production operations at scale.
