THE THIRD FLOOR is the world’s leading visualization company with offices in Los Angeles and London as well as on location with productions around the world. Since 2004, the studio has helped clients visualize and maximize content by producing computer-animated blueprints, known as “previsualizations”. The Third Floor is a fun, creative company founded by artists, for artists. We work on extremely high-profile projects, while maintaining a small studio culture. The company has won multiple Emmy and VES awards for its work. Recent projects include Avatar : The Way of Water, House of the Dragon, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Guardians of the Galaxy 3, For All Mankind, Masters of the Air, and many more.

The Third Floor is looking for an Unreal FX Technical Artist to join our Finals Animation team using Unreal Game Engine. The ideal candidate will come with a good amount of experience in UE. They will work within our Tech Render team to provide IO and QC support for our Finals FX department.

Project based. Remote. Must be based in British Columbia, Canada.

Responsibilities :

  • Ingest and Look Dev realtime VFX assets in Shots
  • Integrate 2D FX / emitters and possess a
  • Support the FX, Lighting and Comp departments with scene setup
  • Validate scene contents to ensure shot quality between department handoffs

Essential Skills :

  • Experienced with Unreal
  • Solid understanding of Unreal's Niagara FX system
  • Familiarity with UE Materials and Material based FX
  • Familiarity with Movie Render Queue, particularly rendering AOVs for Nuke Compositing
  • Experience using third partyUnreal tools
  • Desirable Skills and Experience :

  • Experience with Source Control (Perforce preferred)
  • Experience with Blueprints, particularly editor utility widgets
  • Personal attributes :

  • Able to think creatively and resolve technical challenges and limitations
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels, both on a technical and creative basis
