Our Automation & Digitalization division seeks a Senior Engineer who specializes in the design, development, and implementation of control systems engineering for industrial facilities.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

• Technically supportcontrol systems projects from feasibility through commissioning, helping ensurethat project goals, timelines, and budgets are met.
  • Design and develop control systems, including hardware and software components, to meet the specific requirements of a project.
  • Develop and implement control algorithms and logic.
  • Review/improvement of existing, and development of new process control narratives.
  • Simulation and testing control systems to validate proper functionality and adherence to specifications. Identify and resolve any issues or malfunctions through systematic troubleshooting and debugging techniques.
  • Integrate control systems with existing or new equipment, machinery or processes.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including system specifications, design documents, user manuals, and maintenance procedures.
• Ability to analyze and optimize control loops to enhance process efficiency and stability.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in control systems technology and implementing innovative solutions for continuous improvement.
• Mentor and coach junior engineers and technologists, helping them develop their skills and knowledge in control systems engineering.
• Ability to provide training to operations and maintenance teams on DCS operation and troubleshooting.
• Assist with the development of project opportunity proposals.
• Assist with the definition of project objectives, scope, and success criteria in collaboration with stakeholders, including identifying opportunities for additional automation and electrification scope within the project.
• Assist with the identification of project risks and issues, including support with developing contingency plans and mitigating strategies.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including clients, vendors, and internal teams, to ensure effective communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure compliance with ANDRITZ Quality System.
• Embody anddemonstrate, and reinforce the ANDRITZ core values and behaviours.

When selecting candidates, we will be looking for the following:

• Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Engineering with a focus on automation and electrification technologies.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in industrial engineering; preferably in Pulp & Paper.
• Proven experience with a combination of design, configuration and programming of DCS systems such as ABB, Emerson, Foxboro, Honeywell etc.
• Knowledge of industrial control system networking and cybersecurity standards and practices.
• Registered as an EIT or P.Eng., or AScT in British Columbia.
• Strong understanding of automation and electrification technologies, including knowledge of industry standards, best practices, and emerging trends.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve issues related to control system hardware, software and communications.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
• PLC and HMI configuration and programming an asset.
• Project management experience an asset.
• Legally entitled to work in Canada.
• Ability and willingness to travel to domestic and international sites.
