The Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship is accountable for integrated water, land and natural resource management and cross-sector legislation, policy, and objective setting for land and marine environments. Building on integrated land and resource management efforts, the Ministry will seek to build a new vision in collaboration with natural resource ministries and First Nations that will embrace shared decision making on the land base.

As the successful candidate, you are familiar with using ESRI’s suite of GIS software, including ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online. Your responses showcase your experience performing spatial overlays, queries, analyses, and statistical summaries. The projects and programs you will support may include identifying critical wildlife habitats and old growth management areas; analyzing resource values and impacts; consulting with First Nations and other stakeholders; responding to emergency events, such as flood and wildfires; and developing web mapping and mobile geospatial solutions. Job Requirements :

• Diploma or higher in Geographic Information Systems, or in a natural resource related discipline (e.g. Geography, Forestry, Mining) plus six (6) months of related experience; OR,
• An equivalent combination of education, experience, and training may be considered.
• Minimum one (1) year of experience with ArcGIS gained in a professional, community, school or volunteer setting.

About this Position :

There is currently one (1) permanent, full time position available.

This position can be based in a Natural Resource Sector office. The locations listed above are to assist applicants in searching for this opportunity and are not a complete list of locations.

Depending on the successful candidate’s location, a bi-weekly isolation allowance may apply.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved Telework Agreement.

Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
