Senior Estimator

Agilus is recruiting for a Senior Estimator in the Construction Industry in Burnaby, British Columbia.
Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Estimator to work closely with their clients, providing a range of pre-construction services throughout the design & estimate phase. The Senior Estimator is knowledgeable in different types of construction and is able to analyze items from multiple perspectives. You will lead a talented and supportive pre-construction department, where teamwork is at the forefront. Working with limited supervision under the direction of the Chief Estimator or Department Head.
You will:

• Draw on previous experience and contacts to create a plan, lead the estimates on all sizes and types of projects
• Review final estimate packages to insure accuracy and completeness, prior to formal quotation
• Know the subtrade market; Actively look for opportunities well in advance and plan how to take advantage of opportunities
• Talk to clients /trades / consultants without entering into negotiation but setting up advantages for our client during award negotiations
• Keep contact with PM’s during construction of successful bids to gain real time feedback on bid issues. Mentor and develop team members to maximize productivity, innovation, and teamwork
• Devise potential bid strategies for both negotiated and competitive tender projects
• Have the knowledge to create a quick order of magnitude budget for review by department head or other internal clients
• Prepare and participate in presentations to clients, including final negotiations

You bring:

• 10+ years of construction estimating experience
• The ability to read and understand impacts of SGC's and division 1 specifications
• Knowledge of insurance and bonding requirements
• In-depth knowledge of construction materials and techniques
• Understanding the impacts of various bid methods and types of head contracts
• Expertise to recognize, assess, and resolve areas of risk within a project (exclusions, clarifications, and price adjustments)
• Expertise to develop new forms, approaches, and ideas to make the department more efficient
• Perform additional assignments and research to help further the knowledge base of yourself, the department, and the company
