Overview

Mallette SENCRL is the fourth largest accounting firm in Quebec, exclusively Quebec-owned, with over 1,650 professionals. The firm offers services in assurance, consulting, taxation, law, human resources, actuarial and bankruptcy trustee services. We seek a talented and energetic candidate to join our Saguenay Lac-Saint-Jean region office to lead a growing team of lawyers and paralegals focused on corporate, trust and transactional law. The successful candidate will report to a senior lawyer for the first 12 months, with a strong possibility of association at the end of this period. Job responsibilities

• Develop, with various stakeholders, the regional legal department's annual strategic plan and budget.
• Implement an action plan based on the strategic plan and mobilize the team around its objectives.
• Report monthly to the Management Committee on the progress of the action plan.
• Ensure service presence throughout the Saguenay Lac-Saint-Jean region.
• Contribute to provincial committees in connection with provincial strategic planning.
• Plan and distribute files weekly and manage emergencies related to risk management and workflows from the taxation and certification department.
• Support the team in mandates to provide approximately 50% of yearly effort.
• Collaborate with Human Resources on recruitment, annual appraisals, training and follow-up of personnel.
• Monitor work in progress and invoicing.
• Promote the department to associates, customers and other departments.
• Analyze and propose advanced technological tools and innovative working and management methods.

Profile

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in law (LL.B.), member of the Quebec Bar or the Chambre des notaires du Québec.
• Seven to ten years of relevant corporate or commercial legal experience in a law firm or corporate legal department.
• MBA, CFA, M. Fisc., CPA or other relevant professional designations are an asset.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills, interest in processes and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Versatility and the ability to work across a wide range of fields.
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Self-motivated, takes initiative and can work independently with minimal supervision.
• Flexibility and adaptability.
• Professional conduct consistent with the quality of work, ethics and high standards of Mallette, LLP.
