What do you offer

The Case Manager will be a part of a team that provides Employment Consulting services to unemployed individuals within the National Capital region with an emphasis of serving Ontario Works clients and those demonstrating extensive barriers to employment. Reporting to the Manager the Case Manager is responsible for the planning and delivery of Employment Consulting services matching job seekers to employment opportunities recruitment of employers to match the needs of job seekers and facilitation of the application process for the Government-funded training programs. As part of a team the Case Manager will assist in meeting the strategic achievement of all desired outcomes and targets. The Case Manager will assist in monitoring job placement subsidies and collecting documentation in order to process payments for employers.

Some of the tasks of this position include:

• Conducting full needs assessments of clients.
• Providing employment consultation to clients and maintaining and developing action plans for job searches.
• Assessing and assisting clients in achieving their employment goals through identifying and following up on action plans.
• Preparing clients for employment through the facilitation of life skills job search pre-employment and job maintenance workshops.
• Advocating on behalf of clients to community employers services and programs that will move them closer to their employment goals.
• Consulting with team members and community partners to find employment opportunities and monitor progress in the work environment.
• Providing one year of job retention support to employed participants.
• Preparing all statistical and required reports and appropriate file documentation across multiple data bases.

What qualifications and abilities are we looking for

The successful candidate will have the following:

Education

• Post-secondary education or equivalent in Employment Counselling Social Service Work Social Work or a related field

Language

• Fluent in English and French oral and written
• Other languages are an asset

Experience Skills and Abilities

• Related experience might include: Recruitment Training HR Certification Common Assessment Training Life Skills Certification Teaching and Training Adults Certification Drug and Alcohol Counselling
• Experience in employment counselling and job development/matching
• Experience with case management and data entry
• Intermediate computer skills (use of databases Microsoft Suite)
• High level of interpersonal oral and written communication skills
• Superior problem solving and creative skills
• Ability to work with adult and youth clients with diverse backgrounds and skill levels
• Ability to work with community partners and build and maintain relationships

Additional Requirements:

• Applicants must already have a valid permit to work in Canada.
• A Police Record check not more than 6 months old is Records checks are reviewed on an individual basis and the offense(s) - if any - is considered in the decision-making process in relation to the requirement of working with children therefore not eliminating all candidates with a record from being offered a position.
• Annually staff must complete the mandatory training for the protection of Children & Youth and submit the certificate of completion.
