Position Summary

What you'll be doing
• Supervise all aspects of food delivery daily (dining service, tray service, cafeteria, catering) and ensure that adequate nourishment is offered to every patient
• Monitor daily staff activities with regard to Infection Control, Occupational Health and Safety, Safe Food Handling, Customer Service, Teamwork and Communication
• Oversee staffing levels to ensure daily activities are effectively and safely achieved
• Follow policies, procedures, and collective agreements that impact staff and the operation of the department
• Ensure that staff are aware of and adhere to safe food handling procedures
• Monitor relevant equipment functioning and arrange for maintenance and repairs
• Ensure staff comply with good customer service practices and foster a climate of excellent customer service
• Respond to client/patient concerns directly or through program leadership, staff and unit community meetings
• Ensure the achievement of product standards through quality management activities
• Participate in new menu development, ongoing menu adjustment decisions and product testing
• Actively contribute to Continuous Quality Improvement initiatives
• Hire, train, supervise and performance manage Nutrition Aides; coach, train, educate and lead by example
• Understand the Collective Agreement and it's applicability to nutrition services staff and operations
• Collaboratively develop, implement, and oversee theme day activities including summer BBQ's, Canada Day BBQ and Escape Winter events
• Identify, plan, and implement revenue generating ideas and assist with budget and expense management
• Maintain documentation and compile sales reports
• Interact with local Public Health Unit as applicable
What we're looking for
• Diploma in Food and Nutrition Supervision, completed or in progress
• Membership in CSNM (Canadian Society of Nutrition Management)
• 2+ years' food service experience in healthcare, education, high volume restaurants or large hotels, with a minimum of 2 years supervisory, food preparation and customer service experience
• Experience with scheduling employees and shifts within a multi-shift food production and service environment
• Knowledge of Therapeutic Diets, Sanitation Code and all applicable legislation
• Valid Food Handler's course from a recognized institution-mandatory
• Demonstrated negotiation and conflict resolution skills
• Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
• Flexibility in a rapidly changing work environment
• Ability to offer tactful, courteous client-centered service and work with little supervision
• Knowledge and commitment to health and safety standards, regulations, supervisory responsibilities and best practices
• Intermediate level computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
