Role overview

We’re hiring a WordPress Web Developer (full-time, on-site in Winnipeg) to build and maintain WordPress websites with a strong emphasis on accessibility (WCAG) , performance, and clean, maintainable implementation. You’ll collaborate closely with designers, PMs, and other developers to deliver thoughtful, user-centered work.

What you’ll do

• Build and maintain WordPress websites (custom themes and components / blocks), from implementation through launch and ongoing improvements.
• Develop custom Gutenberg blocks (or block patterns) and maintain flexible content systems that editors can use confidently.
• Implement designs with a focus on semantic HTML, ARIA where appropriate, keyboard navigation, screen-reader behavior, and form accessibility .
• Perform accessibility QA and remediation (manual testing + tools), and support accessible content authoring patterns.
• Troubleshoot production issues, fix bugs, and improve site stability.
• Optimize for performance (Core Web Vitals), caching, image handling, and front-end efficiency.
• Work with common WordPress plugins and ecosystems (e.g., form builders, multilingual, SEO, caching, security) while avoiding “plugin soup.”
• Participate in code reviews, estimate work, document decisions, and contribute to repeatable internal standards.
