Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced Network Specialist for a one-year contract position, working fully on-site. This role will support and collaborate closely with the Network Team Lead to ensure the stability, performance, and continuous improvement of the organization’s network infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Support the Network Team Lead in implementing operational plans, goals, and objectives to improve network service delivery.
- Assist with resource and financial planning for the Network team, including oversight of hardware licensing and support contracts.
- Help assign and coordinate work within the team and act as a mentor to other team members.
- Design, implement, maintain, and optimize wired and wireless network infrastructure, including WAN infrastructure.
- Support network aspects of data center co-location facilities located in Winnipeg, Toronto, and Stettler, Alberta.
- Provision, configure, and install network core and distribution systems.
- Perform scheduled and out-of-band updates, including service packs, hot fixes, firmware, and security patches.
- Provide Tier 2 technical support and coordinate issue resolution for core network infrastructure, retailer networks, and external connectivity.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding investigations, progress, and resolutions.
- Oversee patching and system update processes to ensure systems remain licensed, supported, and secure.
- Review requirements, specifications, and solution requests; develop network architecture designs and technical proposals with cost assessments and budgetary analysis.
- Analyze solution requests, assess effort and financial impacts, and provide recommendations in collaboration with the Network Team Lead.
- Oversee design and development efforts of solutions impacting multiple areas of the infrastructure.
- Coordinate with other business units to ensure solutions meet standards and remain compatible with existing systems.
- Participate in on-call rotation and provide overtime support as required.
Qualifications
University degree in Electrical, Computer, or Electronics Engineering, or an Information Technology diploma (or a related field)At least 6 years of hands-on technical and network experience managing complex IT environments, with a focus on network infrastructureCisco CCNP certification is considered an assetExperience with Cisco Nexus Data Center switches, ASA and Firepower firewalls, routers, and Catalyst switchesExperience with the following systems and tools is considered an asset : Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers and Access Points, Cisco Catalyst Center, Cisco Nexus Dashboard, F5 Big-IP (vCMP, LTM, AFM), Cisco SD-WAN and SD-Access, VXLAN EVPN Multi-Site topology, SASE / Netskope productsPlease send your resume in Word format to Annick Wilson at annick.wilson@quantum-qtr.com.
