Dock WorkerLead Hand Full Time

• Unloads freight from inbound trailers and loads outbound trailers using the handheld scanner as well as staging overflow freight for pickup by linehaul drivers at night as required

• Distributes freight to local P&D Drivers

• Marks materials with identifying information

• Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed (on handheld device)

• Counts and weighs items to ensure conformance to the shippers bill of lading

• Starts heaters placards trailers as required

• Arrange freight in a specified sequence for maximum usage of trailer space

• Operate tow motor to transport stored items from the dock warehouse to the trailer

• Must take an active role in the safety and maintenance of the warehouse by sweeping the floor properly storing dunnage etc.

• Use managers pickup truck to make small rush deliveries as required
• Computer knowledge - will be responsible for end-of-day labels and handling of drivers / scanning
• Other duties may be assigned

Qualifications :

• WHIMS/Dangerous Goods Certificate/ Tow motor certificate ( These items are covered with in-house training programs)

• Developed problem-solving critical thinking decision making and judgment skills

• Able to lift 50 lbs sometimes repetitive

• Ability to multitask and manage various tasks successfully

• Ability to operate our internal computer systems handheld scanning devices

• Dependable and able to work in a dock environment safely and efficiently while meeting timelines for departures
• Knowledge of the AS400 system would be an asset
• Willing to train the right applicant
• Have own personal transportation to and from work with a clean driving record
