Assistant Regional Controller

Location: Sherwood Park, Alberta
Work arrangement: In-office, 5 days per week

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the region to ensure all site/divisional finance and administrative processes and people are in place and functioning effectively.
• Interpret client contracts and translate them into financial processes.
• Communicate financial information to non‑financial peers.
• Ensure day‑to‑day accounting functions (billings, collections, accounts payable, time collection, etc.) operate accurately.
• Ensure monthly closings are timely and accurate.
• Review, adjust, implement, and train financial administrative processes.
• Provide personnel management support to the region’s financial and administrative positions.
• Coach and develop financial and administrative personnel.
• Maintain a high level of professional communication.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• CPA designation with a minimum of 5 years of financial management experience in a related industry.
• Understanding of and adherence to contractual obligations.
• Competence in manual and automated accounting control systems.
• Thorough understanding of organizational and regional priorities and the necessary financial program supports.
• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Strong leadership and managerial experience (asset).
• Effective teamwork skills and ability to develop productive working relationships.
• Ability to interpret and apply complex accounting and auditing principles.
• High proficiency in MS Excel, MAS, MS Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
