Job Responsibilities:

General Description

Materials Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operating of all areas of the materials shipping and receiving department. Facilitates, directs, and supports all groups in the production of a quality product that exceeds the customer's expectations and meets delivery commitments.

Standard Duties & Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and empower team members.
• Support Manager to achieve divisional budget targets to maximize profitability and manage program spending.
• Achieve technical confidence to challenge current standards and progress division to the next level.
• Must support quality, safety, environmental and sustainability objectives.
• Take every precaution reasonable to protect the health and safety of the workforce.
  
  
  • Ensure the workplace is safe and assign safe work.
  • Ensure unsafe actions or unsafe conditions have been identified, corrected and / or eliminated.
  • Advise workforce of any health & safety concerns that they are aware of.
  • Assist in the training of workers to ensure the work is done safely
  • Ensure the safe use of equipment and the proper use of protective devices and PPE where required.
• Cultivate a work culture that focuses on continually improving upon all elements the Employee Opinion Survey
• Understanding & adherence to the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the intention of grievance avoidance
• Supports staffing, facility and equipment requirements related to department.
• Supports with the identification and implementation of corrective & preventive action for any non-conformance within their jurisdiction or for any non-compliance identified during customer / internal and / or external audit
• Provide formal and informal feedback to team members.
• Lead and participate in the continuous improvement, cost reduction and sustainability programs.
• Complies and upholds the expectations of internal standards, processes, and legislative requirements.
• Conduct in accordance with the Magna Charter, Magna Operating Principles and Corporate Ethics guidelines.
• Implements Magna Standards such as MMSA, MAFACT and GQS compliant systems where needed.
• Quality (IATF), Environmental (ISO 14001) and Information Security (TISAX) awareness and adherence
• Responsible for ensuring adherence to daily 5S activities and cleaning schedule.
• Work with other departments towards overall plant goals.
• Any other requests deemed reasonable by management.

Job Specific Duties & Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operations of the material handling and ASRS personnel & support all other departments.
• Assist with the management of the operations activities to meet customer requirements.
• Assist with shift and production run changes to ensure on-time delivery of quality products.
• Participates in manpower requirements planning and overtime scheduling.
• Responsible for improvement initiatives related to Key Operating Indicators assigned by Manager.
• Assist in defining the standardized work & ensure team members are suitably trained & re-trained as required
• Assist with the implementation & maintenance of MMSA & MMOG compliant systems where needed
• Responsible for 5 Alarm Inventory monitoring and proactive reporting.
• Responsible for ensuring FIFO, Stack Height, Stock location and Racking Labeling adherence is followed
• Responsible for corrective action for Forklift issues, damaged stock, Phyto sanitation violations etc.
• Ensures proper training of personnel for safe working conditions, PPE, Stack Height, Material Handling practices, Lockout, TDG, Dock Inspections, ASRS Safety, Racking Inspections, & ergonomic practices.
• Assist Manager with Customer interface for materials & delivery related issues

Qualifications

• Education: Minimum Grade 12 Education
• Experience: 3 years Materials experience in high-volume JIT environment required.
• Characteristics: Able to communicate effectively with coworkers; Effective trouble shooting; Possess leadership skills; Promotes teamwork; Instills empowerment; Ability to uphold confidentiality & integrity.
• Technical: Experience in materials warehousing management; Valid Lift Truck License; ERP System Experience and Automotive related knowledge an asset.
