$103,600 to $120,780 (Plus applicable allowances, including a terminable allowance of $6,000 for a Masters degree or $12,000 for a Ph. D. and a Correctional Service Specific Duty Allowance of $2,140 per year. These allowances are subject to change, modification or revocation, with notice.)

Duties

  • Provide assessments of risk to re-offend;
  • Provide assessments of personality, mental health, and criminogenic needs;
  • Assess risk for suicide or self-injury;
  • Provide interventions to preserve life and prevent serious bodily harm;
  • Provide interventions to promote improved emotional and behavioural adjustment;
  • Provide supportive counselling to clients in crisis;
  • Provide psychotherapy to facilitate positive change in emotional, behavioural, and social functioning;
  • Conduct approved research with patients in the domain of forensic, clinical psychology or mental health;
  • Provide leadership, mentorship or supervision to health professionals and interns or practicum students;
  • Involved in Accreditation and Quality Improvement processes.

Work environment

The CSC is hiring licenced Psychologists.

As a Psychologist within our agency, you will work as an autonomous health provider in a dynamic, evidence-based multidisciplinary practice offering essential psychological services (assessment, intervention, and treatment) to a diverse patient profile.

EDUCATION

Graduation with a master’s or doctorate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in clinical, forensic or counselling psychology.

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION

Registered / Licensed for autonomous practice of psychology, in good standing, as per the regulatory standards of the applicable college.

  • In order to receive an employment offer, you must be registered in the province or territory of Canada where the position is located.
  • Provincial and Territorial Regulatory Bodies - Canadian Psychological Association :

    EXPERIENCE

    Experience in the provision of psychological services, such as assessment, counselling or other psychological services with adults, either to groups or to individuals.

    Experience assessing / diagnosing mental disorders.

    Experience delivering psychotherapeutic interventions.

    EXPERIENCE

    Experience in the provision of psychological services in forensic / correctional settings.

    Experience in providing psychological services to diverse population.

    Experience in providing culturally sensitive interventions.

    Experience treating complex mental disorders.

    Experience providing assessment and intervention services for substance use.

    Experience providing assessment and intervention services in the context of suicide and non-suicide self-injury.
