Your Opportunity :
Practicing within their full scope, the Pharmacy Technician performs all aspects of drug distribution to provide for the effective daily operation of all departmental services and programs leading to safe and effective patient care. Foothills Medical Center Pharmacy is a 24 / 7 Pharmacy with shifts around the clock. Core duties may include, but are not limited to : Order entry, preparation, repackaging and final product checking of sterile and non-sterile products, individual patient prescriptions, and ward stock. Providing guidance to and assisting with the training and orientation of staff and students. Providing clinical support through obtaining information to facilitate medication reconciliation activities and clarifies discrepancies and / or collects and organizes information to support the provision of direct patient care. Building interactive relationships with all members of the healthcare team, including communicating with nursing staff to clarify orders and requests, triaging drug information questions and distribution issues. Maintaining a high standard of performance through completion of internal validation programs that assess proficiency in identified tasks such as aseptic technique, computer order entry, and final product checking. Participating in special projects and programs as assigned. Maintaining department records, statistics and preparing reports as required.
Description :
As a Pharmacy Technician I, you will be responsible for the preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical products. You will receive and triage medication orders, compound and repackage medication and prepare sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products.
Required Qualifications :
Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Current, provisional, or transferable registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician.
Additional Required Qualifications :
Demonstrated communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to work all shift times within the rotation.
Completion of ACP Jurisprudence Exam.
Preferred Qualifications :
Recent experience within Hospital or Retail pharmacy. Experience and certification in non-sterile compounding. Experience and recent Certification within the past 12 months in sterile compounding. Experience and recent Certification within the past 12 months in preparing hazardous products. Experience with unit dose drug distribution.
