Entry Level Dispatcher: Transportation

We are looking for a Dispatcher to join our Sutco Transportation team in West Kelowna. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor driver movements and activities, provide support as required.
  • Plan and communicate the most efficient routes to drivers, work with drivers to maintain route integrity.
  • Proactively review changing weather/road conditions and direct drivers on best routes to take to minimize disruptions as conditions change.
  • Communicate calmly, compassionately and effectively; liaise between drivers and customers to ensure smooth operations.
  • Proactively confirm/remind drivers of scheduled maintenance appointments to minimize unnecessary downtime and missed appointments.
  • Prepare cross-border paperwork for drivers.
  • Monitor drivers' ETA to shippers and communicate that ETA with shippers to ensure faster unloading and turnarounds.
  • Learn and implement both company policies and legal requirements of the transportation industry into the daily duties to ensure compliance and efficiency.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

As a member of the Sutco team, we expect you bring the following to the table:

  • 2 years of post‑secondary education in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • Availability to work day shifts, with the flexibility to cover evening and night shifts as needed.
  • 1 year's experience in a related position preferred, but training can be provided for candidates with transferable skillsets.
  • Must possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills are a must have.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills.
  • Self-starter who is able to work independently with little supervision.
