Join us as a Manager for our Self-Serve Web Platforms team, where you'll optimize team performance, drive recruitment and career development, and uphold high standards in software development. Lead transformation, eliminate blockers, and ensure teams have the right tools. Focus on strategic planning, aligning business and technology, and fostering continuous improvement. What you'll do here :
Manage the team's activities by organizing, planning, and balancing the optimal use of human resources, a good mix of experience, skills and appropriate behaviors that support projects within the department's budget.
Provide career planning, personal development, coaching / mentoring, training, performance management, compensation, promotion, engagement initiatives.
In charge of the recruitment of the resources as well as the retention of these resources.
Ensure that all work meets the department's standards for software development, quality, architecture, and security processes. Supports and re-enforces the application of these practices (framing governance).
Recommend changes in his / her sector and manages the deployment of organizational changes in his / her sector.
Create an environment that supports a productive team.
Get involved to help teams / squads eliminate blockers.
Contribute to the strategic planning of his / her sector.
Understand business needs and technology needs, communicates business / technology vision to team resources and ensures governance.
Manage and evolve the practices of his / her group in his role of Chapter Leader.
Coache regular meetings to discuss their area of expertise and challenges.
Promote the Communities of Practice, and implementation of Built-in Quality practices.
Maintain in-depth knowledge of technology industry trends.
Promote the culture of continuous improvement at the appropriate time.
Challenge the status quo.
What you bring to the table :
A bachelor’s degree in information technology / software engineering or any combination of equivalent education and experience.
Experience managing teams.
Solid understanding and experience with web application technologies (Java, JavaScript, React, Application Frameworks, CSS, HTML, REST, JSON)é
Knowledge of legacy web technologies such as JBOSS / WebSphere is an asset.
Experience in continuous delivery management.
Knowledge of agility (Safe) best practices.
Experience in change management and transformation within a project / program context.
Experience in project management competencies including planning, budget and timeline management, scope management, risk management, timely decision-making, effective team building.
Knowledge of Personal Lines Insurance, Travel Insurance and Group Benefits (an asset).
For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
