Position Summary
We are developing advanced nanotechnology to extend our manufacturing capabilities. This technology has broad applicability to secure documents of all types, quantum computing, medical uses, and environmental remediation. As a Scientist, you will be part of the dynamic surface science R&D team developing this technology in a cutting‑edge laboratory, using unique surface science instrumentation to conduct research and develop novel approaches to bottom‑up atomically precise manufacturing.

Microscope & Equipment Operation
Operate Scanning Probe Microscopes (SPM), primarily qPlus AFM and STMUse additional tools such as Field Ion Microscopes, XPS, mass spectrometry and MBE systemsWork in ultra‑high vacuum (UHV) and cryogenic conditions using vacuum chambers, UHV pumps, bakeout equipment, liquid nitrogen and helium, and helium recovery equipmentResearch & Experimentation
Participate in experimental design, scientific literature reviews, troubleshooting and solution development aligned with company goalsData Analysis
Analyze data using specialized SPM software, Python scripts, statistical tools and graphing platforms to extract meaningful insights from large datasetsPresent findings in a clear, concise format that supports well‑defined conclusions tailored to the intended audienceReporting & Communication
Write and tailor clear, concise technical reports for internal documentation and external peer‑reviewed publications, adapting content to suit the target audiencePresent research outcomes at company meetings and scientific conferences, ensuring clarity and relevance for diverse audiencesPerform cryogen fills when needed and follow internal SOPsParticipate in scheduled teamwork and cryogen fillsFollow safety protocols, champion best laboratory and workplace health and safety practices, and contribute to improving procedures when appropriateQualifications
Knowledge and Experience
Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Science or EngineeringKey asset : Experience with Scanning Tunneling Microscopy or Atomic Force Microscopy (qPlus or frequency modulation non‑contact AFM)Key asset : Experience with Ultra High Vacuum (UHV) equipmentNice to Have
Experience with X‑ray Photoelectron SpectroscopyExperience with Molecular Beam Epitaxy, SEM, FIBQuantum computing research experienceProgramming abilities with Python and LabView are a plusSoft Skills and Characteristics
