Job Summary

The Auto Team Manager is responsible for leading a team of claims professionals, ensuring the delivery of exceptional customer service and the achievement of business objectives. This role requires balancing operational effectiveness, team development, and risk management within the auto claims function. The manager will oversee moderately complex claims processes, act as an escalation point for issues, and drive the implementation of best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Communicate productivity objectives to analysts and contribute to business goals by meeting or exceeding individual and team targets.
  • Manage client interactions, resolve complaints, and balance the needs of customers and the organization.
  • Identify root causes of client complaints and implement corrective actions to improve customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reserving and processing of auto claims, including approving payments and verifying analysts’ files.
  • Support the development and execution of claims strategies, review business results, and adjust tactics as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, and minimize operational and regulatory risk.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team through coaching, performance reviews, and ongoing feedback.
  • Recruit and cultivate a diverse, skilled workforce, fostering a cohesive and equitable team environment.
  • Act as a brand ambassador for the auto claims department and the organization, both internally and externally.
  • Serve as the escalation contact for complex or exception cases and coordinate with internal and external partners to ensure a legendary customer experience.

Job Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree is an asset
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in claims management, preferably within the auto insurance sector.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with experience managing teams and driving performance outcomes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, especially in moderately complex and multi-jurisdictional claims.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage customer and stakeholder relationships effectively.
  • Intermediate knowledge of process management and risk assessment in insurance operations.
  • Experience with industry accreditation and ongoing professional training preferred.
  • Ability to foster a diverse, inclusive, and collaborative team environment.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry best practices in auto claims.
