: Did you know that VIA Rail is carrying out ambitious projects to modernize its services and infrastructure? From our new ultramodern train fleet to ongoing improvement of our infrastructure and reservation system, we’re building the future of transportation in Canada. • Use intelligence-led and problem-oriented policing strategies, programs and tactics;
• Initiate and participate in crime prevention programs;
• Promote safety at railway crossings and on railway property, and enforce rules against unauthorized access;
• Carry out physical safety inspections and risk assessments and recommend measures to reduce risk and vulnerability. Requirements : • Have graduated as a constable from basic training at a recognized Canadian police college (or academy);
• Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada;

• Pass the following evaluations in order to be considered as a candidate and to maintain your position thereafter: Medical examination prior to employment, standard physical aptitude tests for police (before hiring, and every year thereafter), VIA Rail Canada Police service standards for firearms and use of force (upon hire and every year thereafter);
• Be able to drive a police car safely and in compliance with standards, and hold a valid permit to drive an emergency vehicle in the province where you work;
• Be willing to travel and to work variable shifts;
• Excellent oral communication skills in both official languages;
• Solid written communication skills in English or French.
