Job descriptionOur client is hiring a General Accountant to join their remote team in Southern Ontario. The General Accountant will play a key role in supporting the day to day accounting operations of the organization. This individual will be responsible for core accounting functions including journal entries, month end close, financial statement preparation, and financial analysis. The role offers exposure across multiple areas of accounting and is well suited for a detail oriented accountant looking to continue developing technical and analytical skills in a well rounded environment.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and post monthly journal entries, including fixed assets, inventory, accruals, and prepaid expensesMaintain and reconcile fixed asset subledger, including depreciation and disposalsRecord and reconcile inventory related transactions and support inventory valuation processesPrepare month end and year end reconciliations for assigned balance sheet accountsAssist with quarterly, and annual financial statement preparationSupport financial analysis, variance analysis, and reporting for managementAssist with budget preparation and forecasting as requiredSupport internal and external audit requests, including documentation and schedulesEnsure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and applicable accounting standardsParticipate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the accounting functionQualifications and Experience3+ years of progressive accounting experience in industry or public accountingStrong understanding of general ledger accounting and month end close processesExperience with fixed assets, inventory accounting, accruals, and prepaid expensesExposure to financial statement preparation under GAAPStrong Excel skills and experience working with an ERP or accounting systemCPA designation or progress toward CPA is an asset, but not requiredSkills and AttributesStrong attention to detail and accuracyAnalytical mindset with the ability to interpret financial dataWell organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlinesStrong communication skills and the ability to collaborate cross functionallyProactive and curious with a desire to continuously learn and improveRobert Half is the world's first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
