New Frontiers School Board / Commission scolaire New Frontiers invites you to apply for the CARETAKER CLASS II – REPLACEMENT BANK role. The base pay range is CA$24.62 per hour.

NATURE OF THE WORK

The principal responsibility of the employee in this class is to perform and oversee maintenance work, as well as preventive and physical upkeep, exclusively during the evening or at night in an educational establishment or building, in the absence of the caretaker, class II, foreman or school principal. The employee covers an area less than 9,275 m² and performs functions of a maintenance workman, class II.

CHARACTERISTIC FUNCTIONS

• Ensure the cleanliness of the premises by performing maintenance workman, class II duties according to the established schedule.
• Oversee maintenance work carried out by nonspecialized workmen and keep maintenance apparatus and equipment in good condition.
• Inspect and verify lighting, heating, and ventilation systems; ensure operation of heating equipment that does not require a stationary engineer.
• Carry out or ensure required preventive upkeep, minor or temporary repairs, and report any breakdowns, ensuring necessary repairs are completed.
• Follow up the work of specialized or nonspecialized workmen.
• Repair doors, windows, and furniture; assemble and install material when needed.
• Take measures to ensure adequate fire and theft security, and monitor visitors, students, and staff as required.
• Prepare rooms and halls as necessary.
• Identify needs for materials, products, and equipment; ensure standards for safe use, storage, and disposal are respected.
• Make suggestions and recommendations regarding products, material, equipment, and work methods.
• Supervise the work of other nonspecialized employees when required.
• Use a computer and necessary software to perform duties.
• Perform any other related duty as necessary.

BOARD REQUIREMENTS

• 3 years of pertinent experience.
• Working knowledge of the two official languages.
• Must possess a car and a valid driver’s license.

PRATICAL SKILLS

• General knowledge of the operation of heating, ventilation, lighting, and alarm systems overseen by a night caretaker.
• Basic knowledge of main building trades.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Hold a secondary V attestation or a diploma or attestation of studies recognized as equivalent by the competent authority.
