Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to staff one (1) permanent position in Wetaskiwin, AB. A qualified pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions on an indeterminate or term basis. Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

Conditions of employment

  • RCMP Enhanced Reliability Status (ERS) Security Clearance. NOTE : Successful candidates will require a valid RCMP security clearance prior to appointment and throughout the tenure of their employment. The process to obtain RCMP security clearance involves a security / reliability interview and a field investigation regarding matters of criminal activity which includes reference checks, verification of credit / financial status, education, employment, etc. As such, the process may take several weeks or months to complete.
  • Operational Requirements

  • Willing and able to work in a busy police environment, including exposure to unsettling and / or graphic material.
  • Willingness and ability to work overtime, if required.
  • Willingness and ability to travel for work and / or training purposes using various modes of transportation (including owned or leased government transport, commercial and light aircraft and up to and including remote locations).
  • Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s licence or have personal mobility to the degree normally associated with a driver's license.

    Your application must clearly explain how you meet the following

  • Successful completion of two years of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training and / or experience
  • Proof of education will be required prior to appointment.
  • Experience providing service to internal or external clients / general public, via telephone or in person.
  • Experience in the provision of administrative support services including at least two of the following : data entry, preparing correspondence, ordering office supplies, filing, or processing mail.
  • Experience in using computer applications including at least two of the following : databases, email, spreadsheets and word processing.
  • Applied / assessed at a later date

  • Experience in maintaining a law enforcement database such as : Police Reporting Occurrence System (PROS), Police Access Tool (PAT) Collision or Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC).
  • Experience working in a law enforcement and / or legal environment.
  • Experience in receiving, assessing and responding to front counter complaints.
  • Experience in receiving, processing and completing criminal record checks.
