Sobeys is full of exciting opportunities and we are always looking for bright new talent to join our team! We currently have a 12-month contract opportunity for an Accountant to join the Accounting & Control team of our Finance department.

This role is based out of our office in Stellarton, Nova Scotia.

Here’s where you’ll be focusing:

• Accurately account for transactions in the general ledger accounts
• Prepare and review working papers that support account balances, and investigation of any issues
• Prepare and post journal entries
• Complete period-end close processes, controls, and procedures
• Ensure compliance with CEO/CFO Certification requirements
• Participate in the internal and external audit of assigned company codes and account
• Prepare various analytical and ad-hoc reports

What you have to offer:

• University Degree in Business, Accounting or a related field
• A minimum of 2 years experience in accounting role; 3-5 years of related experience would be preferred
• Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
• Microsoft Office skills (Intermediate Excel)
• CPA Accounting Designation, or in the process of obtaining would be preferred
• Knowledge of SAP would be an asset
