Your opportunity :
Under the supervision of Director, Finance and Facilities, the Financial and Payroll Assistant will support the day-to-day financial and payroll administration for the Faculty. You will work closely withour Finance team to provide a broad range of financial and payroll services and support, including coordination of payroll processing for casual research staff, posting and monitoring financial transactions, and maintaining payroll and financial records.Your enthusiasm, superior organizational skills and attention to detail will contribute to our success.
Your responsibilities will include :
- Acting as the first point of contact for payroll related enquiries
- Entering timesheet data into applicable databases
- Entering salary and / or personnel information in HRIS
- Identifying and resolving individual data anomalies and discrepancies
- Collecting supporting documentation required for payroll and / or HRIS processing
- Liaising with clients and vendors to resolve minor complaints and address issues
- Keeping well-informed on changes to policies, procedures, collective agreements, and applicable legislated requirements
Essential Qualifications :
Advanced College Diploma (3 years) in business / accounting or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.Minimum three years of recent experience processing, monitoring, and reconciling financial and payroll transactions preferably in an academic environment.Experience processing payroll including salary and / or personnel information in the Human Resource Information System (HRIS).Liaising with internal and external contacts to resolve payroll and / or HRIS processing issues.Experience identifying and resolving data anomalies and discrepancies.Experience working with digital files, maintaining the digital filing system, and uploading documents in Sharepoint.Experience processing accounts payable and expense claims according to the University guide to Financial Management or similar Guide.Experience verifying that all supporting / audit required documentation for any payroll and finance entries are sufficient and attached prior to processing.Experience handling sensitive and / or confidential information.Experience interpreting and applying financial policies.Demonstrated experience working with a high volume of transactions in a fast-paced environment.Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook.Demonstrated excellent experience with SAP systems including Financial Information Systems (FIS), Human Resources Information System (HRIS).Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and manage competing deadlines and priorities; strong organizational skills.Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to identify, analyze and resolve discrepancies.Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.To be successful in this role you will be :

USW Pay Band 09 $66,715. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $85,319. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation / Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
