GREY MOUNTAIN PRIMARY SCHOOL (GMP) - Whitehorse

Home to the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and Ta'an Kwäch'än Council, Grey Mountain Primary school is one of 11 Yukon schools that have joined the newly established First Nation School Board (FNSB) in the Yukon. Southern Tutchone is the traditional language of Kwanlin Dün First Nation and Ta'an Kwäch'än Council people.

Grey Mountain Primary school is a K-3 school with approximately 90 students. We are actively seeking committed and qualified educators who are dedicated to living and being an active member of the community. Our educational professionals value authentic relationships and are committed to working with students, community, administration and the FNSB to make positive, progressive changes to education outcomes for learners of Grey Mountain Primary.

Qualifications and Experience

Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume how you meet the following qualifications and experience :

• Completion of Yukon Native Language Centre certification / diploma program or equivalent;
• Demonstrated language proficiency (read, write and speak) or a desire to learn Southern Tutchone language to deliver the Southern Tutchone language and culture program to primary levels, K-3;
• Demonstrated and on-going commitment to improve language proficiency;
• Extensive knowledge and awareness of the Ta'an Kwäch'än Council and Kwanlin Dün First Nation worldview, traditional practices, values and beliefs as well as a good understanding of the past and current issues in education, heritage and languages with a view to past, the present and the future;
