The Opportunity

Take the helm of the Canadian division of this global organization as it embarks upon the next step in its expansion throughout our fair Country! Currently operating with a sole Branch in Vancouver, you will spearhead the creation of a new Canadian HQ in the Toronto area. With their sights set on a “coast to coast” presence, your future goals will be to establish a presence in Montreal and subsequently in Atlantic Canada.

While not exactly a start-up, this organization is sufficiently in its early stages here in Canada that it is the perfect opportunity for someone that craves challenge, lives to drive growth and yearns for ultimate responsibility!

Position Description

As the successful candidate, you will be both an accomplished leader and an expert in the field of International Freight Forwarding, specifically air freight.

Wholly responsible for the P/L, you will maximize operational efficiency such to realize strong margins and overall profitability. Given the full P&L responsibility of this role, financial acumen and experience with same will also be a key consideration.

The capacity to mentor, motivate and manage a team is a given. The drive to push top line growth while simultaneously instituting organizational efficiencies such to elicit a robust bottom line would be similarly assumed and expected at a minimum.

While operational expertise is paramount along with strong leadership qualities, one must also possess the ability to perform well in front of the client. In a senior management role, such as this, client facing activities are a big part of the job and a certain amount of sales acumen is required!

In fact, it really comes down to ticking off 5 boxes:

• Operational proficiency in Freight Forwarding, specifically air
• Past success leading, developing, mentoring a team
• Strong client facing capacity, inclusive of account management & business development
• Financial acumen, experience and understanding with a P&L
• Air Carrier management, pricing and negotiation; strong relationships here pave the way.

Experience

5+ years in a leadership capacity in Freight Forwarding and/or Air Freight.

Qualifications

• Post-Secondary Education in logistics or business management is an asset
• Post graduate education an asset
• CCLP, CIFFA, CITT, P.Log, or other transportation/logistics certification is an asset
