Job Description :

We are seeking a kind, caring, reliable, and dedicated Nanny to care for our 17-month-old child in Kitchener, starting Mid-January 2026. The ideal candidate will be nurturing, patient, and proactive in supporting our child’s growth and development. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about childcare, enjoys engaging children in educational activities, and prefers a stable, long-term position.

Key Responsibilities :

• Childcare : Supervise and engage with the child during daily activities, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment.
• Potty Training : Assist with potty training & elimination communication, encouraging the child and providing positive reinforcement.
• Serving Meals & Snacks : Serve already prepared meals and snacks to the child, ensuring they are nutritious and follow any dietary restrictions.
• Tidying & Cleaning Up : Clean up after the child during meals, playtime, and other activities, ensuring the child’s environment remains safe and organized.
• Educational & Recreational Activities : Plan and engage the child in educational and recreational activities, including reading, outdoor play, daily walks, arts and crafts, and puzzles.
• Library Visits : Organize and accompany the child to the library to foster a love of reading and early literacy.
• Communication with Parents : Maintain regular, open communication with parents regarding the child’s well-being, milestones, and any concerns or updates.

Qualifications :

• Previous childcare experience, particularly with toddlers or young children.
• Knowledge of child development, especially in potty training, early education, and emotional well-being.
• First Aid, Police Check, CPR certification & Health check required (or willingness to obtain before starting).
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Non-smoker.
• Clean with a focus on personal hygiene.
• Must be comfortable with light housekeeping tasks related to the child’s care.
• Ability to provide references.

Additional Requirements :

• A clear criminal background and police check will be required.
• Health check documentation will be required.
• Valid driver’s license and own transportation is an asset.
• We are a scent free home, so no perfumes, or other strong smells.

Expectations :

• Childcare Philosophy : We follow a gentle parenting style, showing respect for the child and being good leaders for our child. We need the nanny being consistent with this approach.
• Discipline : Gentle, positive, and consistent leadership strategies are a must. No shouting, no hitting, no passive aggression, no criticism, no stone walling, no silent treatment, no negative approaches to correcting a child.
• Communication : Daily updates on the child’s well-being, activities, and any potential concerns are encouraged.

Remuneration :

This position offers 20 dollars an hour based on experience, with the potential for regular reviews. Please note this is an official position and deductions in line with Ontario employment legislation will be adhered to. There will also be reporting done to CRA.

Time Off & Flexibility :

The nanny will be entitled to holiday, sick days, and any other time off options in line with Ontario employment legislation. Flexibility may be required for occasional changes in hours or additional care needs.
