Job Summary
Guard property against theft and vandalism, control access to facility; maintain order and enforce regulations at public events and within facility. Arm and disarm building / doors as required. Monitor CCTV as required. Conduct regular patrols for safety and security of employees, visitors and facility assets.
Scope of duties & Responsibilities
Conduct Patrol duties per the predetermined patrol schedule.Monitor CCTV and Access Control systems.Advise the Help Desk of any observations regarding damage or to physical environment which could affect security.Ensure all doors and windows are secure.Ensure that all firefighting equipment and exits are accessibleProcess access requests (including the issuance of electronic access cards) in accordance with instructions provided by the Tenant.Perform escort services to employees, visitors, and sub-contractors who do not have the appropriate security clearance.Ensure that vehicles do not block or encumber any of the entrances to the FacilityResponds to requests / calls for security to perform a diagnosis, address the issue or emergencyProvide reports on security related incidents, to supply information, reports and support in in resolving incidentsEnsure proper completion of daily activity / shift reports, incident / occurrence reports and all post required logs and registers in a timely manner.Participate in Security Audits as requiredRespond to all emergency calls and assist emergency responders with bomb threat searches / responses and hazardous substance response where required including facility evacuation.Monitor fire safety equipment and respond to Fire Alarms.Perform relief and additional duty assignments as required to assist facility operations.Comply with Company Policies, Procedure, and QA requirements and ensure a safe and healthy working environment within the post-holders span of control.Fulfil Health & Safety responsibilities by adherence to the requirements of the Company's Health & Safety Policy and Health & Safety Management Plans.Support the Company's Quality Policy Statement and actively participate in the achievement of Company and personal Quality objectives.Undertake such other duties appropriate to the level and character of work as may reasonably be required within the Department / Service.Requirements / Qualifications
Is authorized to work in Canada.Two years of previous customer facing security guard experience.Completion of secondary school education is required. Additional security training would be an asset.Previous experience using alarm response tracking within a CMMS.Good interpersonal skills to successfully interact with employees, students and the public.Standard First Aid Certification (Red Cross)Physically fit in order to continuously patrol, respond to emergencies and assist with transportation of materials as required.Good verbal and written communication skills in order to respond to requests, emergencies and complete appropriate reports.Clear and courteous two-way radio and / or phone etiquette.Team player committed to working in a quality environment. Consistently professional demeanour with fellow employees and customers in order to effectively represent the Company.Working knowledge of computers, control systems and electronic security devices.Security Guard License (as issued by Service Ontario) required.Equal employment opportunity
