About the Role

As a Payroll Specialist  at Forvis Mazars, you will be an integral part of our dynamic team, contributing to our mission of providing top-tier services. You will be responsible for managing the complete payroll process for a diverse client base, ensuring deadlines and specific client requirements are met. You will update payroll system information, including new hires, salary changes, and insurance plan enrollments. Additionally, you will handle client inquiries with professionalism, manage leave balances and wage garnishments, and prepare employment records and year-end reports. This role requires precision and attention to detail to ensure quality service and compliance with legal requirements.

Your responsibilities

  • Ensure the accurate and timely processing of client payrolls, covering low to moderate levels of complexity.
  • Maintain rigorous tracking of each client's payroll schedule according to their respective pay frequencies.
  • Update payroll system data, including for example new hires or group insurance enrollments.
  • Respond to various client requests with professionalism and courtesy, ensuring a high-quality service.
  • Manage the tracking of vacation banks, personal days, sick leave, and other entitlements, and e xecute legal notices as needed.
  • Produce employment records and payroll reports.
  • Prepare year-end processing, including the production of tax slips and all related year-end summaries and reports (full year-end cycle).
  • Perform any other related tasks as required by the service.

Your Skills and Experience

  • You are in the process of obtaining your accreditation from the National Payroll Institute (INP), or plan to obtain it short-term.
  • A minimum of 1 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
  • DEC in accounting or equivalent.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to manage stress and meet tight deadlines while maintaining strict confidentiality and discretion.
  • A strong customer service orientation, with a developed team spirit.
  • Excellent communication skills in both French and English (written and spoken), to interact effectively with all our clients in Quebec and internationally.
  • Good knowledge of payroll software such as Desjardins, Nethris, and Deluxe.
  • Rigor, quick execution, and adaptability to change.
  • Knowledge of payroll and compliance.
  • Excellent command of the MS Office Suite.
