The goal of the Operations Leadership Trainee (OLT) is to bring enthusiastic, high-potential, early career leaders who aspire to elevate their people leadership path in a highly dynamic and collaborative environment. This is an exciting career path intended to attract talented leaders with 3 or more years of previous experience leading a team. The intention of this program is to provide you with the conceptual foundation and critical on-the-job experience to enhance your understanding of how to successfully lead and eventually becoming a leader in Operations.

Depending on your previous experiences and skills, you will be exposed in approximately three (3) job rotations (3-9mos in length) in various roles across Operations – Customer Service, Fleet Dispatcher, Planner, and Fleet Manager.

  • Customer Service : responsible for performing duties dealing with the day-to-day coordination of freight and truck movement in a particular region. In supporting their regional team, they will have routine customer contact and be able to execute the detailed and administrative work. They are responsible for all order entry, appointment booking and data entry for an assigned account portfolio. You will be working as a team with CSRs to ensure all of the customer's needs are met.
  • Fleet Dispatcher (City and Highway) : will execute the day to day activity of their assigned driver fleet. This includes monitoring of the fleet, accurately distributing, receiving and updating information. They would be responsible for identifying and participating in the resolution of issues relating to day to day activity of the Driver.
  • Planner : is accountable for coordinating assets to satisfy the needs of clients, drivers and the company. Key roles of the Planner are to accurately predict availability and potential of assets in their assigned region, and properly acquire freight to effectively utilize those assets in the best of interest of the company. They must solve problems, realize opportunities and communicate in a thorough and timely fashion with all co-workers.
  • Fleet Manager : is accountable for the overall productivity and performance of their assigned drivers and tractors. This will be accomplished through ongoing review of key performance indicators, followed by active participation in strategies to positively affect results. The FM is also expected to be a leader for the entire department by providing direction and support on a day to day basis.
