An externship at an NVA hospital offers a unique opportunity to understand day-to-day practice operations and gain hands-on clinical experience. While each NVA hospital is unique, all share a supportive environment committed to excellent medicine and exceptional service to animals and their people.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical examinations, creating treatment plans, and diagnostic workups.
• Assist with or perform dentistry services, observe or assist surgical procedures, and participate in medical management of patients.
• Develop communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.

Duration and Location

Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. Externships at Beattie Pet Hospital - Brantford are designed for clinical year students.

Stipend
