Branch Manager at WORKFORCE Staffing Solutions
Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Purchasing Manager to join the leadership group. We are seeking a candidate with strong interpersonal skills, great problem solving abilities and analytic skills, in addition to a strong background and understanding of structural steel.
Responsibilities
- Plan, order and coordinate delivery of all structural steel materials with vendors to yard based on schedules for each project.
- Ensuring availability of materials at the correct time at best price for each project from the correct sources.
- Review material grades on material lists and ensure POs are created to match as required.
- Plan and organize and procure all sublet items the shop can not produce such as bent plate and heavy burning and ensuring those items arrive in time per the shops schedule.
- Plan, organize and control the complete supply of all shop consumables used on a day to day basis with local vendors.
- Working with the maintenance department to procure the parts needed for repairing shop equipment.
- Negotiate major purchases with suppliers, mills and off shore suppliers while coordinating with upper management of these larger purchases.
- Overseeing and performing annual inventory audits / counts of all materials in stock.
- Ordering all bolts, fasteners and hardware for each project and coordination of deliveries of these bolts for each job site with vendors.
- Pricing of material and buy out items for jobs the company is bidding and working closely with the estimating department to get all pricing they require for bidding at the most competitive pricing.
Using company software Strumis for the following duties :
Generating purchase orders.Procuring and nesting from the advanced bill of materials to procure what is required for each project.Creating cut bills for the shop to use for each project based on materials that have been previously purchased for each project.Managing inventory levels.Requirements
Understanding of all types of steel used in the industry, i.e., grades, section sizes in metric and imperial and be able to identify all shapes within the industry material library.Excellent communication skills both oral and written.Thorough understanding of supply chain and different procurement strategies and understanding how they apply to different tasks.Very detail-oriented.Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and the ability to learn our in-house fabrication software.Having good knowledge of material yard safety and receiving the material properly based on project schedules.Excellent leadership skills.3-5 years experience in the structural steel industry in purchasing or sales role.Legally entitled to work permanently for an employer in Canada.Fluent in verbal and written English.Available for on-site role in Fraser Valley, BC immediately.Compensation will be salary plus profit share and range from 150-180k per year based on company performance, plus company benefit plan.
