The Opportunity

RVS invites applications for S ubstitute Teachers for the 2025-2026 school year.

Substitute teachers are called to substitute teach on an as-needed basis at any of our schools. You must be available to work throughout the 2025-2026 school year, be accessible by telephone and internet, and provide your own transportation.

No interview is required to be added to the substitute teacher list. A positive reference letter received will be the approval to be placed on the substitute teacher list. Please ensure a professional letter of reference is attached to your job application, from your most recent supervisor, relevant to the job opportunity, written on company letterhead, signed and dated within the past 18 months.

Successful candidates will possess :

• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
• Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills
• Demonstrated ability to work in a collegial environment, with all members of the learning community
• Understanding of and commitment to a teaching style congruent with RVS' vision, mission, and beliefs
• Strong pedagogical understanding as it relates to a variety of curricula
• Ability to quickly engage students in their learning while ensuring a classroom climate of respect and safety

Substitute Teacher Expectations :

Substitute Teachers are now eligible to access the supplemental benefits package at their own cost.

Pre-employment Requirements

New / Recent Graduates Only : In lieu of a reference letter please submit your final practicum report.

The successful can didate must possess or be eligible for an Alberta Teaching Certificate and provide Human Resources with an original of their Teacher Qualifications Service (TQS) document.
