At Modern Niagara, you will work alongside values-driven, safety-conscious, and high-impact teams in a fast-paced, innovative, and collaborative environment. Here, your knowledge, skills, and excellent service will help ensure that the buildings that make up Canada’s infrastructure fulfill the needs they were set out to meet.

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Manager, Building Systems Integration & Commissioning to join our team on a P3 design-build hospital project. This role will provide oversight and coordination of all mechanical power wiring, building automation / control systems, and commissioning activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring integration between the mechanical and electrical scopes, driving the delivery of fully functional, code-compliant, and optimized building systems. This role requires deep technical expertise in building controls, mechanical-electrical interface, and commissioning processes, and a collaborative mindset to work with consultants, subcontractors, and the client team through all project stages — from design development through final turnover.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Provide oversight for the mechanical power wiring scope, including HVAC, plumbing, and specialized systems.
  • Coordinate and lead the building automation system (BAS) integration, from design development through installation and commissioning.
  • Interface with the design team to validate building controls sequences and mechanical wiring requirements.
  • Collaborate with mechanical and electrical subcontractors to ensure accurate implementation of wiring and controls across all equipment.
  • Develop and manage commissioning plans and procedures in alignment with CSA and project-specific healthcare facility requirements.
  • Lead commissioning meetings, witness functional testing, and manage issue resolution logs.
  • Review and validate test reports, deficiency lists, and final sign-offs from commissioning agents and third-party consultants.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and contract requirements.
  • Support the transition of systems from construction to occupancy, including training, documentation, and closeout support.
  • Review contracts for scope and costs and ensure the projects are completed in a manner that supports the overall strategic and operational objectives of the company.
  • Participate in client and construction meetings as required and disseminate information to project team and subcontractors.
  • Willing to advance both professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and seminars, review professional publications, establish a personal network of industry peers, and be highly motivated to benchmark state-of-the-art practices.

Qualifications and Job Requirements :

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical / electrical construction, with extensive experience in building controls and commissioning on large-scale institutional or healthcare projects.
  • Degree or diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Systems Engineering or equivalent trade / technical background.
  • Strong knowledge of building automation systems (BAS), mechanical systems (HVAC, hydronic, medical gases), and their electrical integration.
  • Proven experience managing commissioning processes for complex systems in accordance with CSA or equivalent standards.
  • Familiarity with P3 (Public-Private Partnership) delivery models and integrated project teams an asset.
  • Excellent coordination, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead cross-disciplinary meetings and effectively engage with owners, consultants, and subcontractors.
  • PMP, CEM, or LEED credentials considered an asset.
  • Hospital / Healthcare experience is a strong asset
  • Ability to interpret site and building plans and specifications.
  • A track record that clearly demonstrates effective leadership when interacting with multiple external clients.
  • Working knowledge of contract terms and conditions.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and computerized scheduling packages.
  • Committed team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • We thank all applicants for their interest, however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
