As a member of the Growth Team at 1832 Asset Management L.P., you as the Healthcare Portfolio Analyst will :
Partner with the Growth Portfolio Manager for the gathering, consolidating, and interpreting of information and data required for buy, hold, and sell investment decisionsResearch selected industries, companies, and securitiesInterview management of companies being analyzedPrepare and make oral presentationsPrepare and submit written reportsIn this role, you will :
Analyze companies' financial information to determine current and future financial performanceExamine company reports (quarterly, semi-annual, annual), event driven situations and other regulatory filingsOrganize and format information collectedDraft reports and make investment recommendations using information from industry, company, and economic data collected from a variety of sources including the Web, corporate reports, general and industry publications as well as management interviewsContinually update and improve valuation spreadsheets in a timely mannerMonitor key reporting dates including corporate earnings and announcementsDocument and report on relevant company and market news to the Portfolio Manager in a continuous and timely mannerListen to company and industry conference calls as and when requiredGenerate a clear, compelling, and actionable thesis for each investment ideaWrite succinct research reports and investment recommendations that can be used by the Growth Team, in carrying out stock selectionMake oral presentations on companies and industry trends as requiredDevelop expertise in specific securitiesActively participate in analyst focused activities across 1832 Asset ManagementSupport the Portfolio Manager with back-up administration duties, as needed and when requestedDo you have the skills and requirements that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if have :
Minimum two year's related analytical investment experience (waived for candidates with a health sciences background)Undergraduate degree or MBA, health sciences preferredCFA® Charterholder or active enrollment in the CFA® program preferredKnowledge of accounting an assetExperience and working knowledge with investment systems (such as Bloomberg)Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft, specifically Excel and other financial software programmesSkills
Strong quantitative-mathematical abilitiesExcellent research, analytical and interpretive skills, with a proven track recordAbility to analyze and understand companies, interpret research, and make investment recommendationsFirst-rate oral and written communication skillsThoughtful and strategic decision-making capabilitiesHigh attention to detailStrong organizational skills and a positive results-oriented approachAbility to speak French or Spanish would be an assetProven ability to multi-taskDemonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyPro-active and creative self-starter, with an ability to work independently with minimal supervisionAbility to collaborate with Growth Team membersCapability to cultivate sound relationships with other company stakeholdersDemonstrated ability to work in a dynamic, changing environmentLocation Toronto, Ontario, Canada
