Operations Manager – Kingsville Distribution Centre

Red Sun Farms is one of the largest, fully vertically integrated, high‑tech greenhouse growers in North America. We are currently seeking a candidate for Operations Manager in our Kingsville distribution centre.

The Operations Manager, under the direction of the Director of North American Operations, is a people‑focused leader who will primarily be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the ongoing operations of the Distribution Centre—overseeing day‑to‑day activities, ensuring efficient allocation of resources, and maintaining operational workflows that align with company objectives and customer requirements.

Main Responsibilities

Implement policies, procedures, and organizational structure for the Kingsville Distribution Centre.

Assist in the development of short‑term and long‑term operational goals that fit within overall corporate objectives.

Provide leadership and guidance to the Operations Team, fostering a culture of collaboration, respect, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Direct, coordinate, and collaborate with all departments concerned with production, distribution and quality assurance of all products and materials.

Assist in the development of an annual budget, track expenses against the budget, and manage operations within budget in compliance with company financial and expenditure policies and procedures.

Plan, organize, and supervise all assigned work within the DC, focusing on minimizing operational costs.

Develop and manage staffing plans to ensure adequate coverage for all shifts, balancing workload distribution and optimizing productivity.

Manage building maintenance operations, ensuring all systems and infrastructure are functioning effectively, and coordinate timely repairs and preventative maintenance schedules.

Monitor the work of supervisors, providing coaching, development, training, and discipline as needed.

Understand the Occupational Health & Safety Act and regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety (Primus GFS, SQF or others), sanitation, HACCP, Company policies and procedures, ensuring operations function in compliance.

Collaborate with HR to develop and maintain a talent pipeline, ensuring the organization is staffed with skilled and motivated personnel to meet operational demands.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field.

7+ years leadership experience, preferably within the produce industry.

Strong knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, Occupational Health and Safety laws, Food Safety, HACCP and SQF systems.

Knowledge and experience in organizational effectiveness and operations management, including implementing best practices.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Knowledge of management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources, leadership techniques, production methods and coordination of people and resources.

Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a collaborative management style.

Strong leadership skills, with a focus on operations, managing employees, projects, and business processes.

Demonstrates the ability to approach situations with an open mind and consider diverse perspectives.

Knowledge of produce storage, handling, and repacking practices.

Knowledge of produce grades and packaging regulations.

Working Conditions

Cold and noisy work environment.

Extended periods of sitting / standing.

Monday through Saturday.

Overtime may be required, including nights, weekends, and holidays as business demands.

Travel 5% of time.

Occasionally lift / push weight of 25‑50 pounds.
