The Saskatchewan Urban Native Teacher Education Program (SUNTEP) – Gabriel Dumont Institute of Native Studies and Applied Research invites applications for the following position :

Sessional Instructor – ENG 99

Responsibilities : SUNTEP Saskatoon requires a sessional instructor for ENG 99 for the 2025 Fall Term. This is a first-year university preparatory class (non-credit) which runs concurrently with English 114 (41) at the University of Saskatchewan (main campus). The instructor must adapt to students’ needs in an ever-changing classroom environment, focusing on improving writing skills (grammar, sentence and essay construction in MLA, APA, CMS formats) without the use of AI. The instructor should also teach critical reading and thinking skills across disciplines, assist students with library research and proper essay formatting, and support students with time management and other academic concerns. All coursework must be completed during class time; no take-home assignments are assigned. Responsibilities include planning, preparing, and delivering effective instruction.

Qualifications : University-level teaching experience at the first-year level is required. An MA in English is essential. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, flexibility, and experience working with Indigenous student populations are assets.
