Work environment

Intent of the process

The immediate vacancies that will be staffed from this process is one (1) French essential positions.

This process will also be used to fill future vacancies in various locations with varying employment durations, language profiles, security requirements and employment conditions within the Department of National Defence.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION
EDU1. Possess a valid Class 3 driver's license from the province of Quebec with the FM (air brakes) endorsement or the provincial/territorial equivalent.

Stream: Cargo and passengers:
EDUT1. Possess a valid class 1 driver’s license for heavy equipment operation with air brakes in Quebec or the equivalent from another province/territory.

KNOWLEDGE:
K1. Knowledge of daily maintenance that must be performed as an operator of heavy equipment such as dump trucks and front-end loaders.

Stream: Cargo and passengers:
CT1. Knowledge of daily maintenance that must be performed as an operator for the following vehicles:
• Tractor trailer.
• Trailer (Cargo) of any style and capacity up to 65 tons.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

ASSET EDUCATION
AEDU1. Hold a professional diploma in heavy equipment operation or the equivalent from any province.

Stream: Cargo and passengers:
AEDUT1. Hold a professional truck driving diploma in or the equivalent from any province.

ASSET EXPERIENCE
AEX1. Experience driving and operating a grader.
AEX2. Experience operating a backhoe.
AEX3. Experience operating a bulldozer.
AEX4. Experience operating an excavator.
AEX5. Experience in industrial snow-clearing.
AEX6. Experience in road maintenance.
AEX7. Experience maintaining unpaved surfaces.
AEX8. Experience in excavation.

Stream: Cargo and passengers:
AEXT1. Experience loading and unloading cargo.
AEXT2. Experience operating a forklift up to 36000 lbs.
AEXT3. Experience providing training and individual evaluation.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Willingness to obtain a DND 404 driver's license.

Conditions of employment

Reliability and Security: Enhanced Reliability.
Hold a valid class 3 provincial driver’s license.
Submit a satisfactory driving report from a Canadian province.
Respond to emergencies outside working hours.
Be available to work overtime during the week and/or weekends, sometimes on short notice.
Willingness to do shift work.
Must be able to travel within the province of Quebec and across Canada.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a National Defence Driver's License (DND404).
Must hold a valid Class 5 driver’s license of the province of Quebec or the Canadian provincial or territorial equivalent.

Stream: Cargo and passengers:
Hold a valid class 1 driver’s provincial license.
