Carpenter

Position Overview

Under the general direction of the Maintenance Coordinator or Designate, and while demonstrating a commitment to Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface Hospital, the Journeyman Carpenter is responsible for performing skilled carpentry tasks related to construction, altering, repairing and maintaining woodwork, furniture and fixtures throughout the interior and exterior of the Hospital complex; using and maintaining tools, equipment and inventory of stock; while performing other related duties as assigned.

Experience

• Five (5) years experience in all facets of architectural building maintenance of woodworking, fixture and furniture construction, maintenance and repair.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

• Grade XII.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

• Valid Journeyman Carpenter License as issued by the Manitoba Department of Labour, or equivalent.

Qualifications and Skills

• Good communication skills.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Neat and tidy appearance.

Physical Requirements

• Manual dexterity.
• Physically able to carry and move loads up to 34 kgs.
