This role focuses on ensuring products meet defined technical and performance requirements through structured test planning, fixture design, test execution, data analysis, and documentation.

You will work closely with mechanical engineering, quality, and other cross-functional teams throughout the product development lifecycle, contributing to the development of high-reliability products within a regulated environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive design verification plans to ensure products meet defined technical and performance requirements.
  • Design and refine mechanical test fixtures using SolidWorks to support reliable and repeatable testing.
  • Execute mechanical and electromechanical testing within a product development environment.
  • Develop clear test methods, protocols, setups, and procedures.
  • Produce detailed test reports documenting results, conclusions, deviations, and recommendations.
  • Apply statistical analysis techniques to interpret test data and identify trends, anomalies, and potential areas for improvement.
  • Work closely with design engineering, quality, and other cross-functional stakeholders to investigate and resolve issues identified during testing.
  • Communicate test progress, risks, results, and technical findings clearly to project stakeholders.
  • Support troubleshooting and root-cause investigation of product performance issues.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of test methods, fixtures, processes, and documentation.
  • Maintain a strong focus on product quality, safety, reliability, and performance.
  • Balance project timelines with the need for thorough, accurate, and repeatable engineering testing.

  • Experience working with regulated products or quality-controlled product development environments.
  • Experience with medical devices or other high-reliability electromechanical products is an asset.
  • Experience designing and building mechanical fixtures, jigs, or test apparatus.
  • Experience working with products incorporating both mechanical and electrical components.
  • Familiarity with statistical methods for analyzing engineering test data.
  • Exposure to failure investigation, root-cause analysis, or troubleshooting of mechanical systems.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Genuine interest in hands-on product development, testing, and engineering problem solving.

Work Environment

This is a fully on-site engineering position within a product development and manufacturing environment. The Mechanical Test Engineer will work closely with mechanical engineering, quality, manufacturing, and other technical teams to support the development and verification of complex engineered products.

The role combines hands-on laboratory and test work with engineering analysis and technical documentation. It is well suited to an early-career engineer who enjoys building test setups, working directly with physical products, analyzing performance, and solving practical engineering problems in a collaborative environment.
