Senior Secret cleared Java Developer to support projects and initiatives in the development of Java

Our public sector client is seeking a Senior Java Developer (Secret, 10+ years) to support projects and initiatives in the development of Java applications within government digital transformation programs using Java JEE and SpringBoot

Join a public sector modernization effort within government digital transformation programs. This role spans analysis, design, development, deployment, and support of Java web applications aligned with project specifications and Departmental standards.

Contract, Ottawa, Remote, Working Hours: EST

Must Haves

• 10+ years in Java application development across public sector or enterprise environments
• Hands-on with Java JEE, SpringBoot, Hibernate, RESTful services, and SQL
• Proficiency with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Bamboo, or GitLab for automated build and deployment
• Experience with AWS cloud and OpenShift Container Platform for hosting and maintaining applications
• Valid Secret clearance or higher

Nice to Have

• Experience applying federal standards and guidelines within IT service delivery
• Exposure to Agile ceremonies and development processes
• Knowledge of JIRA for issue tracking and status management

Responsibilities

• Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications aligned with ISED standards
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain Java applications supporting departmental business units
• Implement and enhance RESTful web services and SOAP interfaces to enable system communication
• Lead and participate in Agile ceremonies including stand-ups and sprint planning sessions
• Perform troubleshooting and bug fixing using JIRA and other issue management tools
• Produce documentation and operational procedures compliant with departmental guidelines
• Collaborate with project managers, designers, and testers to ensure cohesive delivery of secure, reusable solutions
