Northern Lakes College has the following Temporary Casual Relief position available:

Instructor, Electrician
Salary: $34.83 to $53.50 per hour
Location: Slave Lake
October 12, 2026 to June 30, 2027

Qualifications:

• Journeyman Certificate in the Electrical trade
• A minimum of three (3) years’ experience
• Experience teaching or mentoring adults
• A clean vulnerable sector criminal record check prior to commencement
• A valid Class 5 driver’s license
• A combination of education, training, and experience may be considered

Assets:

• Journeyman Electrician Certificate with Red Seal Endorsement (RSE)
• Adult Education Certificate, Diploma, or B.Ed.

Nature and Scope of Work:

Reporting to the Chair, Trades & Resource Technology, this position is responsible for supporting student learning in apprenticeship, pre-employment, pre-apprenticeship, and dual credit programming. Instructors at Northern Lakes College (NLC) enjoy helping others and are committed to student success. The instructional schedule is up to 36.25 hours per week. This programming may be offered via face to face, distant, or mobile methods of delivery.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Instruction and Learning Environment

• Provide instruction to students in a classroom and/or lab setting
• Foster and maintain a positive and effective learning environment
• Prepare teaching and learning materials

Curriculum Development, Assessment, and Reporting

• Assist in the development of curriculum and other program materials, including (but not limited to) test banks, practice exams, mid-term exams, final exam, and final practical testing procedure
• Assess and evaluate students
• Record and report student success and attendance

Collaboration and Institutional Support

• Assist with industry, government, and community relations
• Assist with purchasing of materials and supplies
• Supportive of College and department vision and direction
• Enjoys working in a team environment and will collaborate with others

Skills/Knowledge:

• Electrician trade
• Teaching and learning
• Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Keyboarding

The Successful candidate must provide College or University transcripts and a clean Criminal Record Check to Human Resources prior to commencement.

This position is covered under the Collective Agreement between Northern Lakes College and the Faculty Association of Northern Lakes College.
