Electrical Technician

Reporting Structure: Direct to Regional Project Manager
Employment Type: Full-Time, Project-Based Contract (Paid Weekly)
Base Location: Calgary, Alberta
Travel Requirements: Extensive provincial travel and high on-call availability are mandatory for this role.

About the Opportunity
Are you a highly skilled telecommunications expert who thrives on the technical challenges of fiber optic networks and advanced wireless communications systems? Our rapidly expanding client is urgently looking for two dedicated Technicians to strengthen their premier Wireless Division.

In this dynamic, hands-on position, you will take ownership of the deployment, configuration, and optimization of mission-critical telecom hardware. Your primary environment will include remote equipment shelters and diverse ground-level sites throughout Alberta. You will be heavily relied upon for your technical acumen—troubleshooting intricate system faults, decoding complex engineering schematics, and playing a vital role in the upkeep and expansion of Canada’s essential wireless network infrastructure.

Advantages
Exceptional Compensation: Earn a highly competitive hourly wage ranging from $36.00 to $48.00, tailored to your specific expertise and technical background.

Accelerated Overtime & Weekly Payroll: Enjoy the financial stability of weekly direct deposits, plus premium overtime pay applied to any hours worked beyond your standard 8-hour daily shift.

Generous Travel Allowances: Receive a comprehensive daily Living Out Allowance (LOA) to comfortably cover your expenses during all road travel and remote field assignments.

PPE & Gear Subsidies: Stay protected on the job with an annual premium safety boot allowance and other provided safety gear.

Long-Term Health & Wealth (Post 6-Months): Gain access to an elite, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits package, plus an RRSP matching program to secure your future.

Inclusive & Safety-Driven Culture: Become part of an equal-opportunity environment where zero-harm safety protocols are paramount, and your relentless work ethic is genuinely celebrated.

Responsibilities
Execute hands-on design, configuration, and deployment of microwave, mobile, and cellular networks, while actively contributing to comprehensive wireless network proposals.

Draft meticulous project documentation, including accurate bills of materials (BOM), clear scope of work (SOW) outlines, and intricate site/network architectural records.

Conduct rigorous fiber optic diagnostics, splicing, and ongoing system maintenance utilizing advanced OTDR testing units and precision Fusion Splicers.

Expertly decode, analyze, and practically apply highly complex electrical wiring diagrams, engineering blueprints, and telecommunications network schematics.

Provide technical expertise in responding to industry RFPs/RFQs, driving the successful rollout of innovative telecommunication infrastructure strategies.

Cultivate and sustain seamless, professional communication channels with internal crews, high-profile clients, external contractors, and senior project leadership.

Qualifications
Professional Background & Education:
You must possess at least two (2) years of hands-on experience focused specifically on modern wireless technologies and telecom environments. An Engineering Technologist Diploma, formal military communications training, or active certification through a reputable provincial organization (such as ASET or ASTTBC) is highly desirable.

Technical Proficiency:
- Demonstrated expertise working with modern Fiber Optic systems and a mastery of essential diagnostic tools (including OTDRs and modern Fusion Splicers).
- Exceptional aptitude for translating highly technical network schematics and intricate wiring diagrams into functional, real-world builds.
- Previous field experience handling microwave systems, general telecom infrastructure, and SCADA networks will put you at the top of the pile.
- Familiarity with configuring and deploying GE MDS wireless hardware is a massive bonus.

Certifications & Compliance Requirements:
- A fully valid Canadian Class 5 Driver’s License accompanied by a pristine driver's abstract.
- Ability to successfully clear a comprehensive criminal background check.
- Willingness to undergo and pass strict Drug & Alcohol (D&A) screenings, a mandatory requirement for access to specific high-security or industrial client sites.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.

Physical & Environmental Demands:
You must be prepared for a highly rigorous physical workload. This involves routinely lifting heavy equipment, scaling tall poles and ladders, maneuvering through cramped confined spaces, and executing tasks in extreme, unpredictable Canadian weather. You must also offer absolute flexibility to adapt to erratic shift schedules (covering days, nights, and weekends) alongside demanding on-call rotations.

Summary
Are you prepared to elevate your career trajectory and make a tangible impact on the future of Canada's telecommunications infrastructure? We want to hear from you today!
