Job description

Join a growing not-for-profit (NPO) healthcare organization that plays a vital role in supporting seniors and the local community. This is an exciting opportunity to join an organization with a strong foundation, a dedicated leadership team, and a clear vision for continued growth, including future expansion opportunities. Reporting to a CPA-led executive team, this newly created Senior Financial Analyst role offers the opportunity to take ownership of key financial reporting, analysis, and process improvement initiatives while helping shape the future of the Finance function. The role will appeal to a CPA from public accounting with experience supporting Long-Term Care, healthcare, or not-for-profit clients, or an industry professional with direct Long-Term Care finance experience looking to take on a broader operational finance role. You will have the opportunity to enhance financial processes, optimize systems, support Ministry reporting and Long-Term Care funding requirements, contribute to strategic projects, and provide meaningful financial insights to operational leaders. This is an ideal opportunity for a hands-on finance professional who enjoys working independently, improving processes, and making an impact in a mission-driven environment. Located in the Niagara Region, this organization offers convenient access from Hamilton, Burlington, St. Catharines, and surrounding areas. Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the CEO/CFO, the Senior Financial Analyst will play a key role in supporting financial operations, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives within a Long-Term Care environment. Responsibilities include: Support the budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes, including variance analysis and providing financial insights to leadership. Prepare monthly financial reporting, Board reporting packages, Ministry reporting submissions, and stakeholder dashboards. Support compliance with Ontario Long-Term Care funding requirements, Ministry reporting obligations, and sector-specific financial regulations. Maintain the general ledger, perform account reconciliations, prepare journal entries, and support month-end and year-end close activities. Monitor financial performance, cash flow, key financial metrics, and provide analysis to support operational decision-making. Support the annual audit process, including preparation of audit schedules and liaison with external auditors. Review financial processes, policies, and internal controls while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and strengthen reporting capabilities. Partner with operational leaders to provide financial insights and support business planning initiatives. Support payroll audits, expense tracking, accounts payable/receivable processes, and overall financial administration. Review contracts and expenditures to identify risks, cost-saving opportunities, and process improvements. Optimize and enhance the use of Dayforce and other financial systems to improve reporting, automation, and workflow efficiencies. Support financial modelling and analysis for capital projects, including future growth and development initiatives. Assist with the evaluation of financial systems and potential integration opportunities to support the organization’s evolving needs. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field. Minimum 2+ years of experience within the Long-Term Care industry required. Strong experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, internal controls, and financial analysis. Solid knowledge of accounting systems, business planning, and asset management. Experience working with ERP/accounting systems; Dayforce experience considered a strong asset. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide meaningful insights. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build relationships across all levels of an organization. Ability to manage confidential, urgent, and sensitive matters with professionalism and discretion. Strong problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and a commitment to integrity and ethical practices. Knowledge of Ontario’s Long-Term Care regulatory environment is an asset. Additional Information:
