About the Job

PLC Programmer / Automation Controls Specialist

Food and Beverage Process Automation

Greater Toronto Area | Customer Sites Across Canada and the United States

$45 to $55 per hour plus benefits and 5% RRSP matching

The Company

Kellow Recruiting is partnering with a Canadian leader in process engineering and industrial automation.

Since the 1990s, this company has helped some of Canada’s largest food, beverage, and dairy manufacturers improve and automate their production processes. Its lean team of nine process designers, engineers, electrical specialists, and automation professionals combines decades of industry knowledge with practical implementation experience.

Their strength is their ability to support the complete automation journey:

Consultation → Process Design → 2D and 3D Modelling → Documentation → PLC and HMI Programming → Systems Integration → Commissioning → Optimization → Ongoing Support

They do not simply design a system and walk away. They work alongside their customers to program, integrate, commission, optimize, and support it.

Where You Fit

You will interpret process designs, equipment layouts, electrical information, device details, and operating sequences, then develop the controls that tell the complete production system what to do.

Using Rockwell (must have), Siemens or Omron (secondary) technology, you will integrate motors, drives, valves, sensors, instrumentation, and production equipment into reliable automated systems.

Projects may run for one to two years, with programmers involved at different stages from documentation and programming through commissioning and ongoing support. Active commissioning assignments typically last four to six weeks.

This is a hands on, customer facing role involving regular work at manufacturing sites across the GTA and travel throughout Canada and the United States.

What You Will Do

  • Develop, modify, test, and troubleshoot Rockwell and Allen Bradley PLC and HMI programs
  • Integrate controls with motors, drives, valves, sensors, instrumentation, industrial networks, and production equipment
  • Interpret process designs, 2D drawings, electrical information, device details, and operating sequences
  • Support documentation, installation, testing, commissioning, optimization, and ongoing customer service
  • Maintain clear programming, I/O, commissioning, system change, and operating documentation
  • Work directly with customers, operators, tradespeople, engineers, and internal project teams
  • Manage priorities independently and see assigned work through to successful operation

What We Need From You

  • A valid driver’s licence, reliable transportation, valid passport, and the legal ability and willingness to travel throughout Canada and the United States - Must Have
  • Strong Rockwell program experience - Must Have
  • At least five years of hands on PLC programming, industrial automation, controls, commissioning, or systems integration experience
  • Practical electrical knowledge, including VFDs, motors, relays, sensors, valves, instrumentation, networks, and electrical drawings
  • Strong documentation, troubleshooting, and customer communication skills
  • A self starting, entrepreneurial mindset and genuine interest in how machinery and production processes work
  • Experience with Siemens, Omron, or Schneider systems would be an asset. Experience in food, beverage, dairy, pharmaceutical, packaging, or another process manufacturing environment would also be valuable.

What You Will Get

  • $45 to $55 per hour, based on experience
  • Comprehensive medical and health benefits
  • Health Spending Account
  • 5% RRSP matching
  • Reimbursement of approved gas and travel expenses outside the GTA
  • Exposure to complex, long term automation projects
  • Direct mentorship from experienced process, electrical, mechanical, and automation professionals

A family founded company with a lean, supportive culture and significant opportunity to grow

If you are an experienced automation professional with strong Rockwell programming capability who wants broader project exposure and the opportunity to see complete production systems come to life, we would welcome the opportunity to speak with you.
