Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10 years of recent progressive public company accounting and audit experience at a Big Four or other national accounting firm.
  • CPA designation is required.

  • A commitment to the highest standards of integrity and professionalism in all aspects of your work.
  • Demonstrated strategic and analytical skills applied to resolving complex accounting and auditing issues.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate clear, concise, and confident perspectives while adapting your style to diverse audiences.
  • Intellectual humility and active listening skills, that enable you to understand differing viewpoints and build consensus.
  • Strong written communication skills, both technical and non-technical.
  • A collaborative mindset and strong team orientation with a willingness to support others, seek assistance when needed, and provide consultative advice when appropriate.
  • Proven project and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to change, with a proactive approach to sharing ideas and driving continuous improvement.
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn, embracing the future of audit, emerging industries, new tools and technology.
  • Strong self-motivation and drive, with the ability to contribute positively to an intellectually stimulating environment.

What you will be doing

  • Conducting inspections of audit firms (both public company audit files and the Firm’s system of quality management) in accordance with CPAB’s inspection methodology. This will include engaging in discussions with audit Firm’s engagement teams and Firm’s leadership.
  • Manage assigned inspection work effectively by meeting deadlines and executing inspections efficiently and to a high standard of quality.
  • Build and maintain professional, productive, and respectful working relationships with colleagues, audit firms, and external stakeholders, ensuring all interactions reflect positively on CPAB, reinforce its mission, and support the integrity of financial reporting.
  • Preparing high quality written inspection reports that are clear, accurate, and impactful.
  • Participating in inspection projects designed to enhance the effectiveness and continuous improvement of CPAB’s inspection processes.
  • Supporting stakeholder engagement and thought leadership initiatives.
  • Travel may be required periodically throughout the year.
